BIG BROTHER NIGERIA WINNER-KATUNG ADUWAK

For 01 days millions of people stayed gleus to thier tv sets waiting to see who emerges as the Big brother Nigeria winner,After just over three months Katung Aduwak has emerged the winner of the Endemol statged competition.

Portions of the interview carried out with the Sun are particulary enlightning especially when asked about the views of his parents on him taking part in the show
What is the reaction of your parents to all this?

My parents are all happy. My mother was at the final ceremony. I hope you saw her rejoicing with me on the stage.Your parents were disallowed from worshipping in the ECWA Church because their son was seen on TV drinking smoking and frolicking with girls.(cuts in) No. It wasn’t true. My parents only decided to opt out of the church leadership because they have a son on television who smokes and drinks. As leaders, if they are going to counsel anybody against that, won’t that person tell it into their faces that ‘look, you can’t tell me not to drink and smoke thing? So, they decided to respect themselves by opting out of the church leadership. They were not expelled or disallowed from worshiping the church. I don’t think a church can expel or disallow anybody if it is really a church.

NNENNA AGBA REPS FOR NAIJA ON AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL CYCLE 6

Nnenna Agba is the the 24 yr old Nigerian with the really thick Igbo accent that was on cycle six of America's next top model. The show comes on in the Uk a few weeks from now on UKTV gold so i reckon you guys should look out for it.
I've posted excerpts of an interview she did with bet just after getting eliminated from the show in week nine

BET.com: What does Nnenna mean?
Nnenna: It means father’s mother comes back from a different light. It’s Nigerian.

BET : During one challenge, you got a little loose and ended up kissing a male model. What was that about?
Nnenna: That was an effort to run from the stereotype. I didn’t want to get pinned as the boring girl. It was just a photo shoot, nothing more.

BET.com: Were you surprised when you were sent home?
Nnenna: Not really. I thought it might be me. I didn’t transform into a mermaid and that’s what modeling is about.

When asked whether she was still withe her botfriend John after her shinanigans on the show
Nnenna says:

Yes, we’re working things out. I regret some of the things I said and the way I spoke to him on the show and he regrets some things too. And my leaving had nothing to do with him. I’m responsible

ANGELINA JOLIE PRESS CONFERENCE IN NAMIBIA

Hate to announce it folks but it seems like Africa is back in fashion once again and is the must have accessory of the summer.I think she's a pretty cool chic and am sure Namibians arent complaining about the intrest she's generated in the country, but for the love of God she's not the first female to give birth.

It would be nice if everyone just chilled a bit, that being said it takes a lot of balls to give birth to your first kid in a location your inlaws were clearly kicking against.

So she gets my thumbs up for that.

HOT MUSIC DOWNLOADS AND REVIEWS

Sauce Kid- Omoge Wajo-Download
Am i going out on a limb when i say Sauce Kid is the New face of Nigerian hiphop? The kid has the ryhme style and cocky swagger that trully defines the greats.Sauce teams up with Nigerian veteran music crooner Mike Okri in the song Omoge wajo and definately shows us why his definately one of the best out.Not a huge fan of Nigerian Hip-hop becausse a lot of it is crap really, but guys like Sauce Kid,freestyle,Eldee and Eldot definately stand out.

Styl Plus-Always On My Mind-Download
The song is pretty infectious when you get around to it and the highlight has to be the beat.Might not be as catchy as thier previous singles but its definately worth listening to.

MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EHICAL ARGUEMENTS AGAINST FAILING TO STRIKE A BALANCE BETWEEN DUTY TO YOUR JOB AND TO YOUR CONSCIENCE

I didn’t plan to do this tonight but felt the urge to after looking at the picture of the Sudanese kid again.

Quick Bacground
Late Kevin Carter the individual who took the photograph grew up in Apartheid South Africa and was told by senior editors to detach himself as much as he could from the people he shot so as not to contract diseases from them.Therin lies the supposed arguement for failing to act.

Personal Thoughts
Kevin Carter should never have being given the Pulitzer prize .You honor the work and the effects it’s had for indeed that one picture has probably alerted millions of people to the daily horrors of life in Darfur, but should he be praised for that of course not. He should have been ‘shooed’ for failing to respond to basic human instinct that required him to show a bit more compassion and human feeling at the expense of taking a prized picture (Kevin Carter apparently walked away after this picture was taken). His actions (as if I didn’t have enough already) makes me question our very existence as human beings the key word being ‘Human’. When a man is faced with two conflicting actions (pick up the kid and help her in whatever way you can or take the picture) and picks the latter u know we have come to a stand still as a society.

Its ironic though that what made him as a person killed him eventually … …he voluntarily chose to be a passing bystander in the events culminating in the taking of the photograph and perhaps could not reconcile his actions and live with his failure to respond to the needs of an infant hence the reason he took his own life on the 24th of July 1994.

So without boring you spare a thought for that unknown child who at such an early age was taught the hard way the lessons of survival. I truly hope the picture is an ever constant reminder to count your blessings even if u don’t have any because there is always someone in some forlone corner of the world who has it worse than you.

A MIRROR INTO THE THOUGHT PROCESS OF A CONCERNED NIGERIAN- PART 1

'To all those reading this, I am writing from a frustrated part of me because I just realized I am just one person.I recently came across some disturbing articles about Child rape in South Africa, the myth on AIDS, the torture of mentally challenged Children in Romania, Genital Mutilation by young girls in Sierra Leone and I wondered what our world was turning into.

At first I could not sleep and wrote to numerous dignitaries, world organizations, wealthy individuals and all but all I got back was the run around and a polite response which said sorry not our department. This left me really angry and disappointed that we as human beings can turn our backs against each other in our time of need.
I know most people are wondering who am I and think I have a perfect life is why I choose to discuss this. Most People believe an empty belly has no room for Politics. This is true but my belly is empty and until something is done to elevate some of these problems we face as human beings we will continue to suffer.

I sat down tonight in tears like a little girl because I know these problems can be combated and you the average individual can provide a safe haven for theses children and women all over the world.
I am not just asking you to open your wallets, I am asking you to open up your heart and see evil for what it truly is. Why should our children continue to suffer because we would rather do nothing? I was once like that, unwillingly to stretch out my hand because I didn’t want to feel pain. I didn’t want to be hurt anymore.I am willing to go the mile, I am willing to go to all these impoverished countries to educate, build homes, raise the standards of living and to give these children and these women a home and to let them know we truly do care for one another.

I like to think of myself as a religious person but I have never been of one religion. I am tolerant and understand that it is our differences that make us interesting and unique.
Because of the 9/11 attacks Muslims are viewed as terrorist and trouble makers and non religious believers that demand the removal of God from schools are viewed as Atheist. The only view I have on the difference in Religion is Love. Why infringe on mine if I do not infringe on yours. Not all Muslims are bad people and the holy book “the Koran” does not teach or encourage Violence despite popular belief. The Koran is as misinterpreted as the Holy Bible is. We pick up what we want to and not actually what the books teach.

I read the Koran in University and like the Bible it describes God in the same light as we do. Some aspects are different; Yes e.g. the issue of Christ. Jesus was a Jew still his own people didn’t believe him, so why criticize Muslims for that fact. I may not be entirely clear but if memory serves me right Jesus was viewed as a religious man, a prophet like Mohammed. I believe in Jesus Christ but the one fundamental belief I have is to love all mankind no matter who they are. No religion is perfect but we need to respect them except when they encourage hate and physical abuse.

I teach love, protection and harmony. This is the same belief I instill in my children and for which my 5 year old son stood for when confronted with an issue at school.
If you do not want Religion in school then be particular about informing your school of your choice and opt out, but do not deny others the choice to do so. Everything in this world is about choice and the freedom of that choice. I have a few friends that don’t believe in the existence of God but that doesn’t stop us from being friends. I respect their ideals and like me they can stand behind what they believe in.

Yes like most people I pass judgment when I need not do so. I am very guilty of that but because of the suffering I was recently exposed to I have become more appreciative of my life and the problems I encounter each day.
There is happiness in realization that you are not perfect and realizing what you need to do.
I am very appalled by the fact that there are enough resources to cater for all our needs but due to the immense power struggle going on in our various countries we ignore each others needs and cries for help.

In certain sections of Africa there is scarcity of food, medicine, technology etc. There is an ever constant recitation by the West of AID and funds to relieve this suffering but I am yet to see the actual effects of these Aids. There are charities and non profit organizations than I can count but still all these problems exist.

Feeding a man for a day only caters to his present needs but teaching him to feed himself gives him dignity and self reliance. When this mans standard of living is raised his new status affects him, his family and his community in a positive way. His children would go to school, eat well, and his wife would be able to cater more for her family. Even if the children decide not to go to school and become laborers they can learn their trade and make something of their lives'.

This is a three part series chronicling the reflections of a concerned Nigerian Bimpe Solanke.

PICTURES FROM THE PEOPLE CELEBRATION CONCERT HELD IN SOUTH AFRICA

Pharrell Williams our favourite skater boy performs in The People's Celebration Concert at Greenpoint Stadium
Mario passing through the spot as well
If you watched Trevor Nelson's show on MTV a few days ago you would have seen snippets of Sean Paul's performance and again his performance was crazy. Its kind of hard to believe that Snoop still performed at this concert considering the fact that him and some of his guards were arrested at the departure lounge at Hethrow in London a few hodays before.
